Why You Should Install a Paver Patio

Are you thinking about redoing your patio but you’re tired of using concrete? In this post, we will tell you why pavers are the perfect material for your new patio.

Having a patio in your backyard allows you to relax after a hard day at work or school. There are many materials a person can use when installing their patio but one reigns above them all, and that’s pavers. Pavers are stones typically made from concrete, but they can also be made from clay bricks or natural stone. In this post, we will go over the reasons why you should install a paver patio.

Durability

As stated before, pavers are made from either concrete, clay bricks or natural stone. The individual pieces come in varying sizes, colors, and patterns, which can allow you to design your patio any way you see fit. When installed properly, it creates a strong and flexible pavement that isn’t susceptible to cracking or breaking. Pavers are so strong that they are considered to be even stronger than the concrete foundation of most homes – that’s why manufacturers of pavers have given them a lifetime warranty.

Low Maintenance

If at any point you need to replace one or a few of the paver stones, the process will be easier than compared to having to break a concrete slab and filling it in again. If any debris is on your patio, sweep or blow it away. Also, if there are any stains on the pavers, it can be cleaned up with just soap and water. For tougher stains, some chemicals can help get rid of them. If you want to lessen the chance of any stains getting on your patio, there are sealants you can have sprayed on your patio.

Climates

As we all know in Maryland, our weather can change at the drop of a hat at any time. Unbeknownst to most people, the climate can impact your patio. During winter, the ground freezes and thaws, expanding and contracting as the temperature changes. With these changes, it can move your patio and can cause cracks in its weaker areas. Cracks frequently occur in concrete patios, but with paver patios, there are seams across the surface of the pavement that allows pavers to flex individually and then returns to their original position.
